清华大学美术学院的前身（原中央工艺美术学院），始建于1956年，是当时国内第一所培养工艺美术设计人才的高等院校，1999年11月20日并入清华大学。2005年从光华路原校区搬入清华园内的新教学楼。

学院现以设计学、美术学及艺术学理论三个学科面向国内外招生，其中：设计学涵盖染织服装艺术设计、陶瓷艺术设计、视觉传达设计、环境艺术设计、工业设计、信息艺术设计、工艺美术等七个系十九个专业方向；美术学涵盖绘画、雕塑等两个系五个专业方向；艺术学理论涵盖艺术史论系的两个专业方向。29个工艺实验室和若干校外实习基地，教师共有202名，其中教授66人（博士生导师33名），副教授98人，讲师37人，助教1人，完整的学科结构，雄厚的师资力量，完备的教学、科研、工艺实验条件、清华大学综合学科背景的依托，对提升学生的艺术素养和人文情怀，为培养高素质、高层次、创新型拔尖艺术人才提供了可能。目前学院在清华大学建设世界一流大学的战略思想指导下，秉承“自强不息，厚德载物”的校训，正在为建设世界著名美术学院而努力奋斗。

50多年来我院已经为国家培养了近万名高素质、创新型的各层次毕业生，他们中的许多人已成为全国各艺术院校和其他高校设计艺术学科的学术带头人和学术骨干，成为国内专业相关领域的著名设计家、画家、艺术家和艺术教育与理论家。

染织服装艺术设计系（Dept. of Textile & Fashion Design）：

建院初期为染织美术系，1980年开设服装设计专业，1984年成立服装设计系，1991年两系合并为染织服装艺术设计系。

主要专业课程：

染织艺术设计专业：室内陈设艺术与室内纺织品设计、服装面料与服装设计、旅游纪念品与汽车织物设计、染织CAD应用、中外染织纹样史等；

服装艺术设计专业：中外服装发展史、服装设计理论、服装CAD应用、服装市场营销学、服装结构设计与服装造型技术等

陶瓷艺术设计系（Dept. of Ceramic Design）：

学院最早开设的专业系之一。现有陶瓷设计和陶瓷艺术设计两个专业方向。

视觉传达设计系（Dept. of Visual Communication Design）：

该系的前身为装潢艺术设计系更名。是学院最早开设的专业系之一，2009年更为现名。现设平面设计、广告设计和书籍设计三个专业方向，较全面地涵盖了视觉传达设计的专业范围。

主要专业课程：

综合造型基础、摄影基础、设计基础、专业理论、销售设计、品牌设计、视觉识别设计、广告策划与表现、广告战略、书籍形态设计、书籍整体设计、编排设计、插图设计、数码媒体交互设计等

就业范围：

教学，研究院所，设计公司、广告公司、出版、杂志、报刊等相关企业

 

环境艺术设计系（Dept. of Environmental Art Design）：

室内设计和景观设计两个专业方向是由该系最早在国内开设的。

主要专业课程：

室内设计：制图与透视、空间构成、设计表达、人体工程学、材料构造与工艺、建筑设计基础、陈设艺术设计、家具设计、环境照明设计、环境色彩设计、环境绿化设计、环境艺术设计概论、中外建筑与园林史等课程；

景观设计：制图与透视、空间构成、设计表达、地景勘测、建筑形态学、园艺基础、公共设施设计、公共艺术设计、园林设计、城市设计、城市规划原理、中外建筑与园林史、环境行为心理学等课程

就业范围：

高校相关建筑与环境艺术专业教学，建筑与环境艺术设计相关行业管理或社团、相关出版或文化单位

 

工业设计系（Dept. of Industrial Design）：

是国内最早致力于工业设计高等教育的专业系之一，现设产品设计、展示设计和交通工具造型设计三个专业方向。

主要专业基础课程：

人机工学概论、色彩设计基础、工业设计平面表达、工业设计初步、综合模型训练

主要专业方向课程：

产品设计：产品设计系列课程、产品设计综合应用、产品设计调研、产品设计战略；

展示设计：展示设计系列课程、展示设计综合应用、展示设计基础、展示策划与管理；

交通设计：交通工具造型设计系列课程、交通工具造型设计、专业实习课程

就业范围：

信息艺术设计系（Dept. of Information Art & Design）：

该系成立于2005年，由原工业设计系的信息设计专业和视觉传达系下的动画设计专业重组而成。其专业方向是艺术设计面向信息时代的一个新的发展方向，培养具有国际意识和自主创新能力的、面向信息和数字媒体创意产业的、具有跨学科背景知识的、一专多能的复合型专业人才。

主要专业课程：

信息设计：信息设计方法、可用性工程、信息图表设计、界面设计、交互技术、交互设计、信息设计、新媒体艺术、设计社会学、数字娱乐设计等；

动画设计：动画艺术概论、动画前期创景、动画美术设计、动画运动规律、表演基础、原动画技法、声音表现、影视特效与后期编辑、动画创作等

就业范围：

教育领域、信息文化创意产业、动漫与游戏产业的相关领域，包括影视动画、数字娱乐、网络游戏、交互界面设计、移动通讯应用服务、多媒体应用与内容制作、数字博物馆、数字图书馆、媒体艺术机构等

 

工艺美术系（Dept. of Art and Crafts）：

前身为特种工艺系，1999年更名。现设金属艺术、首饰艺术、漆艺、纤维艺术和玻璃艺术等五个工作室。

主要专业课程：

素描、色彩、绘画、雕塑、专业艺术史、图案与装饰、构成、计算机艺术设计、材料与工艺、金属艺术、金属雕塑、漆画、漆艺、纤维艺术、壁毯、玻璃艺术、首饰艺术以及相关的选修课

就业范围：

教学单位，工艺美术领域（包括金属艺术、首饰艺术、漆画艺术、玻璃艺术、纤维艺术等）的设计与研究、相关企业等

 

绘画系（Dept. of Painting）：

1999年12月建系，前身是原装饰艺术系和绘画基础教研室。现下设中国画、油画、版画、壁画与公共艺术四个专业。

主要专业课程：

公共专业课：素描、色彩、创作、社会实践、风景、人物写生、创作和综合训练、影像与多媒体艺术、透视、构图、艺术人体解剖，中外美术史、绘画史、艺术概论

四个工作室的主干课程：

中国画：白描、重彩（风景、人物）、写意（人物、花鸟、山水）、工笔花鸟、书法、篆刻；

油画：素描、色彩、静物、肖像、人体写生、风景、油画材料与技法、综合材料实验等；

版画：木版、铜版、石版、丝网版、综合材料版等；

壁画：白描、重彩、公共艺术设计、超写实绘画、综合材料、金属工艺、建筑风格导引、景观设计等

教学单位，研究院所，画院，画廊，城市景观设计部门等

 

雕塑系（Dept. of Sculpture）：

1999年建立，前身是原装饰艺术系下的装饰绘画专业。

主要专业课程：

主干课程：传统雕塑、具象雕塑、抽象雕塑、环境雕塑、创作实践、雕塑史论

实践环节：木雕、石雕、铸造、金属雕塑、实践艺术和艺术考察

艺术史论系（Dept. of Art History）：

该系的前身是成立于1983年的工艺美术史系，艺术史论系原有设计艺术学和美术学两个二级学科，2011年升级为艺术学理论一级学科，形成了艺术史、艺术理论、艺术批评与管理全面发展的学科格局，其中设计艺术学是目前全国高等院校中同领域最早的硕士点和博士点，2002年被评为国家级重点学科。美术学于2000年设立硕士点，2003年获博士学位予权。

主要专业课程：

Brief introduction

The predecessor of the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University is the Central Academy of Arts & Design, founded in 1956, was the first institution of high education of arts and design in China. In 1999, the Central Academy of Arts & Design was merged into Tsinghua University and moved from Guanghua Road to Tsinghua University.

The Academy recruits students at home and abroad with three disciplines, Artistic Design, Fine Arts and Art History. And in these three disciplines, Artistic Design includes seven departments (with 19 majors): Textile & Fashion Design, Ceramic Design, Visual Communication Design, Environmental Art Design, Industrial Design, Information Art & Design, and Art and Crafts; Fine Arts includes two departments (with fine majors): Painting and Sculpture; Art History includes one department (with 2 majors), Art History. The Academy has 29 labs and several practice bases outside. Currently, it has 202 full-time special teachers, among whom there are 66 professors (33 advisers for doctoral candidates), 98 associate professors, 37 lectures and 1 tutor. Its strong faculty, complete teaching facilities and advanced experimental means provide the possibility of training outstanding talents. Dept. of Textile & Fashion Design

The predecessor of Department of Textile and Fashion Design is Department of Textile Art. In 1980, a fashion design specialty was initiated, and the Department of Fashion Design was founded in 1984. The two departments were merged into the department of Textile & Fashion Design in 1990.

Main courses:

Textile design specialty: Home Textile & Interior Soft Decoration Design, Fashion Fabric &Fashion Design, Tapestry Art Design, and History of Chinese &Foreign Textile Pattern.

Fashion design specialty: Evolution of Chinese &Foreign Fashion, Theory of Fashion Design, Fashion Marketing, and Structural Design &Modeling Techniques of Fashion.

Dept. of Ceramic Arts &Design

It is one of the first departments opened at the academy and has two specialties, ceramic design and ceramic arts and design.

Dept. of Visual Communication Design

The predecessor of the department is Department of Graphic Design. It is one of the first departments opened at the academy and renamed in 2009. The department offers three concentration tracks: Graphic Design, Advertising Design and Book Design, which cover all the areas of visual communication.

The department of Industrial Design is one of the first founded departments in the field in China, and currently offers three specialties: Product Design, Display Design and Transportation Design.

Dept. of Information Art & Design

The Department of Information Art and Design was founded in 2005. It was recombined by information design specialty in the Department of Industrial Design and animation design specialty in the department of Visual Communication Design. Its specialty direction is a new developing direction oriented to information times. The department aims to develop students’ originality, ability in resource integration and ability in design and planning, to bring up inter-disciplinary talents with new concepts and qualities on humanities, arts and technologies.

Main courses:

Information design specialty: Information Design Method, Usability Engineering, Information Graphics Design, User-interface Design, Interactive Technique, Interactive Design, Information Design, New Media Art, Design Sociology, Digital Entertainment Design, etc.

Animation design specialty: Introduction of Animation Art, Animation early vision, Animation Artistic Design, Animation movement regulation, Performance fundamental, Original Animation Techniques, Sound Performance, Video effects and Post production, Animation Creation, etc.

The predecessor of the Department of Arts and Crafts is the Department of Special Arts and Crafts. Under the department, there are five craft labs for metal art, Jewelry art, lacquer art, tapestry art and glass art.

Dept. of Painting

The Department of Painting was set up in September 1999, whose predecessor is the Department of Ornamental Art and the Basic Teaching & Research Group of Central Academy of Arts and Design. Currently it has four studios: Chinese Painting, Oil Painting, Print, and Mural Painting.

Main courses:

The common courses and optional courses include: Sketch, Color Painting, Creation, Social Practice, Landscape and Figure, Creation and Comprehensive Training, Image and Multimedia Art, and Perspective and Anatomy.

The core Courses of the four studios include:

The Chinese Painting studio: Line drawing, Heavy-colored Painting (figure), Chinese Freehand Painting (figure painting, flowers and birds painting), Chinese Landscape Painting Meticulous Painting of Flowers and birds, Calligraphy and Seal Carving, etc.

The oil Painting Studio: Still life, Portrait, Figure Painting, Landscape Painting, Materials and Techniques of Oil Painting, and Mixed Media Lab, etc.

The Print Studio: Wood Block Print, Copperplate Print, Rock Engraving, Silk Screen, and Mixed Media Print, etc.

The department of sculpture was set up in 1999, whose predecessor is the Department of Ornamental Art and the Basic Teaching & Research Group.

Dept. of Art History

Born of the Department of Arts and Crafts History founded in 1983, the Department of Arts History currently has two second-level disciplines: Theory of Arts and Design and Theory of Arts. Its Theory of Arts and Design discipline is the first to have launched master’s and doctoral specialties in the field among all Chinese colleges and Universities. In 2002, it was put on the list of national key disciplines. Its Theory of Arts in traduced master’s specialties in 2000 and was authorized to award doctoral degrees in 2003.
